Moving Beyond Intelligence !!

The focus for long has been on evaluating the Intelligence Quotient(IQ) of the student.  But things are gradually changing with emergence of Spiritual Quotient (SQ) and Emotional Quotient(EQ). IQ measures our ability to analyse, reason, think abstractly, use language, visualize, and comprehend (things that corresponds to our mind). In the mid-1990s, Daniel Goleman introduced the concept and importance of Emotional Intelligence (EQ) which is our self-knowledge, self-awareness, social sensitivity, empathy and ability to communicate successfully with others (things that corresponds to our heart).Of late another measure of Intelligence termed as Spiritual Quotient (SQ) has emerged, it is the key to personal fulfillment and sustainable lifelong performance at extraordinary levels. It is the science of human energy management that allows access to a full range of human capabilities required to succeed in life and prosper in the current economic environment and social climate. It has nothing to do with religion.  Corporate houses across the word have come to accept the fact that a holistic approach to education is must.  By employing people with high intelligence alone companies cannot prosper sustainably.  There is a need to look at people with high SQ and EQ as well. A case in this regard is that of Google SW Engineer – Chade-Meng Tan (Meng) who developed a popular course for Google employees called “Search Inside Yourself”. He developed Emotional and Spiritual Intelligence into a set of practical and proven tools and skills that anyone can learn and develop.

A bance of IQ, EQ and SQ makes a man perfect.  Knowing ones interests and aptitude help in identifying ones abilities and the right marriage of these bring about a fulfilled career and definitely a fulfilled life.
